Outline - Street Art Show

by Sweatshop Staff | Thursday, August 15, 2013 | Video, Experiential

Allow Le Cool outline the argument on the merits of proper Street Art and Graffiti. Not the stuff that every PR company shoehorns into product launches. Nor the 'Wacker loves Chantelle' stuff that is scrawled on street signs but the colour and paint that is so expertly applied and the ways the people who create it are not accepting of the polished and planned urban environment that is reflective of the few. Among those on show will be Rask - Godfather of Irish graffiti, Solus - the last punk left in town, Morgan - the steady handed tsar, Danleo - the uncontrollable doodler, DMC - the Clark Gable of gable ends and Aidan Kelly - Renaissance man. Music comes courtesy of Bantum (and maybe more). We'll lay on the Peroni, you can pick up some prints.

Now, working with videographer Al Bradley, Katie have released three promotional videos showcasing her culinary skills. To see the first three living dinners videos, go HERE.

Sweatshop are delighted to present the first in a series of damn near edible videos by Mark Duggan and Aoife McElwain.

Launched by Le Cool's food issue and featured on Broadsheet, the first vlog notched up over 1,000 plays within the first few hours it went live. We are looking forward to releasing a new video every fortnight for the next three months.

Read an interview with Mark and Aoife about the genesis of the idea below. (Portrait by Des Moriarty)

Aoife: Mark and I met when I had a radio show, The Indie Hour, on Dublin City FM about four years ago and he took a picture for me, we just became friends. Mark approached me about doing these little food videos he wanted to do.

We wanted to keep them very simple, and stay away from that aspirational stuff. It's nice that these people have their personalities, but sometimes food programmes can be really intimidating, because you might be thinking "ooooh, I don't have that really cool Mason jar or Avoca bowls, so maybe I can't do it..."

I started cooking really late, and I was afraid of it - I thought it was much harder than it was - and I think that was because I went to boarding school where the food was terrible, and I had no opportunity to cook.

Mark: We want to reduce the videos down to their simplest form and find the personality and beauty in the ingredients and process. Would like people to appreciate them both on an aesthetic and culinary level.

Le Cool & OFFSET

by Sweatshop Staff | Monday, April 08, 2013 | Content, Video, Experiential

For three days in April, an impressive line-up of international speakers (including Ben Bos, Bob Gill, Kate Moross, Oliviero Toscani and Vaughan Oliver) came to Dublin for OFFSET 2013. We were delighted to partner up with the best international creative festival in the world. Our partnership was undertaken through our Le Cool network and involved three strands: we created original content for the OFFSET website, we launched our first in a series of Panicdotes events and we promoted the festival through our social media.

The original content for the site was a mixture of video (above), photography (below) and copy.

We developed a series of photo essays called Craft Punks, which focused on creative Irish designers and artists who aren’t afraid to get hands on with their chosen medium. We also launched Panicdotes, in which speakers and attendees briefly recounted some incident or anecdote from their careers to date, it ranged from moments of inspiration in times of terror to valuable lessons learnt. We were honoured to welcome on stage Bob Gill, Kate Moross and Ben Newman, among others.

& What kind of world do you want to grow old in?
